Let’s Play!

Sunday writing prompt with Dennett

How it works — when you are nominated, you make a post answering the questions posed to you then tag a bunch of other people to answer questions you make up or the same ones — I really liked these!

Here’s my answers to Dennett’s great list.

If you could change your first name, what name would you choose?

I love Sofia after my beautiful niece, the sound, the city.

If you could live in a country other than where you are now, where would you live and why?

Northern Spain or Ireland. The former because I like the more vocal temperament, love the mountains, and well Ireland…it’s the Celts, the fairies, the stories, the dancing humour and the glorious rugged West Coast….oh and the Guinness brewery in Dublin.

If you could have a kind of pet that you’ve never had before, what pet would you choose and why?

This is easy. An Alpaca but more than one. I got a lift with someone not long ago who had a lone Alpaca who then died. She rang up an Alpaca Sanctuary and got a right telling off for that! Good. So at least three Alpacas with a wonderful open field for them to roam and play in.

It’s going to rain all day, how will you spend your time?

Going out in it probably! A good friend lives around the corner and we will shortly be venturing out into a misty damp morning, rain, coffee, musings and all.

You have one week of vacation and your boss/partner/friend is paying for you to go anywhere in the world you choose. What would be your vacation spot?

Iceland — give me a volcanic jacuzzi ANY DAY.

Look at your skin. Think about its color and what that means to you. If you could change your skin to another color — any color — what color would that be and why?

My skin has hints of my distant Northern Spanish (female line) and Romany Gypsy (male line) ancestry. When I was a child I used to spend entire Summers playing outside on the meadow and visiting our local beach and by late Autumn with the nights drawing in and the leaves curling to the ground I would still look like the kid who’d just got back from the Caribbean. Those cheesy school photos attest to that!

I would love to have the kind of beautiful brown skin that Indie Arie sings about in this song -

You are in the hospital recovering from a serious illness. Your physician recommends music therapy. Whose music would you choose to listen to and why?

I would adore spending hours listening to the kind of chakra harmonising healing downloads I often find on Youtube. Solfeggio Frequencies they’re called.

You won an all-expense-paid trip to New York City. What would be the first iconic place you’d visit there?

Brooklyn Bridge Baby!

You’ve been awarded a nonfiction book contract. You can write about anything you want. What would you choose?

I would start writing the book I know I’m meant to — a healer’s ‘bible’ with magical recipes, mischievous true stories, and tons of practical ideas for manifesting and leading a happy, integrated and most importantly meaningful life…which I’m still creating.

What is the most important piece of advice you would give a child — any child?

Never stop believing in magic…ever.

A wealthy philanthropist offers to pay your living expenses for five years if you will work for free for a nonprofit of your choice. What nonprofit would you choose?

I would absolutely love to work with children living in deprived areas to help them connect with nature, the woods, plants and herbs wherever possible and then maybe weave in some magical creativity and circus skills. And meditation because a healthy acceptance of feelings is really important for manifesting your dreams as well as taking grounded ethical action. So a non-profit that does this I am now looking for! (or maybe I’ll create it :-)). Thanks Dennett for the inspiration.

I’d love to invite the following writers to join in the game if they so wish and have the time:

Bridget Webber, Priyanka Srivastava, Violet Storm, LB, Justcallmejillybean, P.G. Barnett, Francine Fallara, Vaishali Paliwal, Erika Burkhalter, Lindsay Lonai Linegar, Elle Rogers, Thomas Plummer, Tre L. Loadholt, Jack Preston King

Here are my 7 questions (I like that number, rules are for playing with :-)

  1. If you were going to come back in another life as an animal (non human) which would it be and why?
  2. If you had to co-write a book with someone famous who would you choose?
  3. If tomorrow was the last day in this life what would you do?
  4. If you could go back to a favourite childhood memory where and what would you be doing?
  5. If you had the choice between a warm thick chocolate or tipple of your choice bath what would you have?
  6. If someone could give you a super power what would it be and why?
  7. You have a chance to go Groundhog day tomorrow. What would you get up to?!

Go forth and play!
